What does raw mean at Michelle's RawFoodz?

Would you ever make a homemade salad dressing and heat it on the stove before you use it? Or add a chemical preservative? No!   

We understand that many plant-based ingredients lose nutrients and nutritional value when they are heated or processed, so we source minimally-processed ingredients and only cold-blend our products in small batches just like you would at home. That's how we retain the maximum goodness of our ingredients, which we never dishonor with chemicals.   

Do your products have to be refrigerated before and after they're opened?

Yes! Our products need the love and care you would give all of your fresh produce. Please always check the best before date.  

What do you use to sweeten your products?

We only use low-glycemic raw coconut sugar and Canadian maple syrup to sweeten our products.  

Coconut sugar is made in a natural 2-step process: 

  1. A cut is made on the flower of the coconut palm and the liquid sap is collected into containers. 
  2. The sap is placed under heat until most of the water has evaporated. 

    These ingredients are not found in all of our products, so please check the list of ingredients for the products you're interested in.   

    Which oils do you use?   

    All of our products use cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a base. We believe it is the healthiest oil out there and we're committed to our high standards without compromise. 

    We also use sesame oil in some of our products for added flavor.   

    I have an allergy. Is your product safe for me to consume 

    We are nut-free, gluten free, dairy-free, and soy free. Some of our products contain sesame and coconut so please check the label before you purchase or try any of our products.  

    Are you Vegan?  

    Yes. All of our products are 100% vegan.  

    Why do you put hemp and chia seeds in some of your recipes?  

    Hemp and chia seeds are the plant-based ingredients we use to add texture to our dressings, dips, and sauces without the need for artificial thickeners and gums.   

    How do I use your sauces?  

    Our sauces can be enjoyed both hot and cold and can be used as a marinade for grilling and bakingThey are also terrific poured over steamed vegetables, great for stir-frying, and can be used as a dip for your fries or other veggies.   

    Why am I having a bit of trouble shaking your products to blend when I first pull them out of the fridge?  

    We love the satisfaction of a good bottle shake, but we exercise patience. Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil hardens in the fridge, so we suggest giving it a couple of minutes on the countertop to loosen, or running the bottle under warm water for a minute. We promise you'll get that satisfying shake you were looking for with a smooth pour!  

    When I open some of your products, the oil (and herbs) have risen to the top. Why is that? 

    We use cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil and raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in most of our products. When they settle in the bottle, the cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil floats to the top to 'make a run' from the vinegar. It's just the way it works. So give them a good shake and they'll blend together like good friends!  

    Are your products GMO-free?   

    Absolutely. We are certified Organic in both the US and Canada, and both certifications guarantee that our products are also GMO-free. 

    How long is your shelf life?  

    It varies by product - please always check the best before date. We rely on the natural pH level of our products to keep them at their peak. We would never compromise our ingredients by heating (cooking) our products (like all shelf-stable dressings, sauces, and dips), or using any kind of preservative, to extend the shelf-life.   

    Shipping/Shopping

    How much is shipping?   

    Shipping is free on all orders! Our minimum order is 6 bottles.

    Why is there a 6 bottle minimum on online orders?  

    So we can keep the cost of refrigerated shipping at a reasonable level for our customers. The 6-bottle minimum allows us to offer free shipping.  

    My bottle broke in the mail. What do I do?  

    Just send us a photo of the broken bottle to shop@rawfoodz.com and we'll send over a new one!  

    If my product is damaged, how do I return it?

    All food sales are final because our food is perishable, but if you've received a damaged product please find our detailed Return Policy, and if you have any questions please reach out at shop@rawfoodz.com 

    If I'm unsatisfied with my product, what do I do?
